12. The deletion of a nasal between a stressed nucleus (which becomes nasalaized) and a tautosyllabic heavy obstruent occurs in bent, continent and temple, but does not occur when the obstruent is heterosyllabic, as in con'tain and temˌpo.

Concering panther, it may be observed that although //θ// goes with the stressed nucleus--this is shown by the loss of //n// as well as by the effects of R16--the epenthetic stop that results from R8 (before R12 operates) causes the output to be syllabized this: ['pʰæ̃t(ˀ)~θə]
