Emphasis and cognitive verbs

hear, understand, say, teach etc--all these are not emphasized. What is usually emphasized is the subject of these verbs.

That’ll teach her to try to trick a trained attack  detector!

No emphasis on 'teach'. Instead the emphasis falls on That.

I don't understand why they do it.

No emphasis on understand.

So, you hear like I don't understand > I don' stand
