Catalytic Converter warranties 2003 VW Jetta AVH

Your CEL (Check Engine Light) is on, have it scanned  by the autoparts store. Found that it is P0420, which is related to catalytic converter fault.

Your cat is warrantied for 80,000 Miles/8 years, whichever comes first.

If you are driving VW Jetta 2.0 AVH, and got this code, your warranty is extended to 100,000 miles and for  10 years. So, you are getting 900 dollars cat + downpipe + 30 mins of labor.

My advice to you: call the dealership service department with your VIN number, and tell them that you have heard about extended warranty for P420. They will check and tell you whether it is covered or not. If it is covered, take it to the dealership. Before taking to the dealership, make sure that you don't have any codes but P0420!!

2.0 AEG, AVH have extended cat warranties.

Some have 100K or 120K, with 10 years.

Standard warranty mandated by EPA: 8 years/80K miles.

Then, there are PZEV warranties like for 150K/15 years.
