Just hang around a RTC bus stand where many buses go to Vijayawada; and watch the conductors/drivers announcing Vijayavaada in order to get passengers on board.
1. -ya- gets deleted, since it is an approximant
2. /ʋ/ gets deleted in Vi, thereby coming the vowel i (note v is an approximant in telugu, /ʋ/ is smoother than the fricative /v/
3. va gets deleted, ja + a = jaa
We end up hearing ijaada by these drivers and conductors. Some scumbags, who shud be skewered alive, claim that this is sloppy telugu. These idiots shud master the fast speech phonology of Telugu.
