Pharyngitis = inflammation of the pharynx or throat (a sore throat is acute pharyngitis)
Laryngitis = inflammation of the larynx (where the vocal folds are)
Tracheitis = inflammation of the main windpipe - between the larynx and the bronchi
Bronchitis = inflammation of the airways that deliver the air to the lungs. Two mainstem bronchi branch off the trachea then subdivide 23 more times until they terminate at the alveoli or air sacs.
appendicitis = inflammation of appendix
