devoicing

devoicing is another phonological process in American colloquial speech. for instance, when you hear to len tillem's ads about pat vitucci, an investment advisor in bay area, you hear like "Pat Fitucci".

John S. Kenyon in his 1929 American Pronunciation, notes of this process like "fvery good"

Devoicing is common at the start, and the end, of a word when it is a voiced consonant.
