Releasing of stop consonants

- may be incomplete: in this case, glottalized stop (unreleased stop) as in AmE, glottal stop as in BrE

- released stop: central, lateral, nasal, oral

oral release: [ˈbʌtən]
nasal release: [ˈbʌt.n], [.n] is a syllabic consonant, and t released nasally
lateral release: ['lɪt.l], [.l], t released laterally. /l/ is an alveolar approximant; /t/ is an alveolar stop. /n/, an alveolar nasal.
central release: ['lɪtɔl]
